Kids Making Real Change
The Purpose:
Kids Making Real Change is a program to help our youth recognize that kids CAN and DO make a difference. By providing a program that will challenege them, we will help develop leadership and the consciousness of their capability to serve community and country.
The Challenge:
Our challenge is for them to collect change around their house, from their neighbors, friends, family members and any other way they would like. The change would then be donated to the Foundation to be used for our Fellowship Program. Our goal is to get funding for as many fellowships as we can, which cost approximately $10,000.00 each. The idea that doing something as simple as collecting change can make a significant impact for our Veterans and military families shows children how easy it can be to make a difference!
How it Works:
The program will officially launch on Martin Lurther King Day January 18, 2010 in the spirit of service and will end on April 15, 2010. The program is open to groups and individuals. Those who would like to participate can sign up by emailing teamtravis@travismanion.com. Once the registration process is complete, the collecting can begin!
As change accumulates it can be cashed in at a local bank or supermarket and then a check can be sent to the foundation along with whom the change is coming from and that it is for the Kids Making Real Change program. The website will keep a running tally of who is raising what money so that the participants can track their progress and everyone can see who makes the most change! Once the collection comes to an end and the final numbers are recorded, the top "Change Makers" will be announced.
After the Fellowships have been awarded, we will ask the fellows to write a letter to be sent to all who participated explaining what the fellowship means to them and how the children's efforts have impacted their lives. This will serve as a reminder to all involved that they CAN make a difference.
